What’s been happening:

After graduating from Penn State, I earned my Ph.D in chemistry from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and did a post-doctoral appointment at the University of California, Irvine. I accepted a faculty position at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona where I spent most of my career in various roles that included chemistry professor, Director of the Environmental Sciences Program and Director of the Ralph M Bilby Research Center. With the flexibilities afforded by an academic career, I was able to do environmental research in Egypt, travel to Saudi Arabia and serve as a Fulbright fellow to Qatar University, Doha. Following a two year assignment (2004-06) as a program officer in the Chemistry Division at the National Science Foundation, I accepted my current position as Head of Chemistry and Biochemistry, James Madison University, Harrisonburg, VA. I have been married to my wife Glenda for 25 years, and we have 5 children in our blended family.
